What is covered on the media training course?
Our broadcast interview training course is all about building confidence.
We’ll teach you the tricks of the trade, including our 10 steps to a successful TV, radio or podcast interview. We’ll ask you tricky questions, but not without teaching you how to deal with them.
The course typically runs from 10am - 4pm, with time for radio and TV mock interviews, as well as detailed feedback.
-
A chance to discuss your experiences and (understandable!) fears about broadcast interviews. We’ll also cover the different types of interview and how you should prepare differently.
-
Our 10 top tips on preparing for an interview, including how to deal with questions you don’t know the answer to – or would rather not answer!
-
Radio interview practice based around a real life media opportunity for your business, charity or local authority. We will work with you ahead of the training day to make it as relevant as possible. Each person is given individual feedback - in a supportive and constructive environment.
-
TV interview practice building on what we've learnt from the radio interviews, along with some advice on how to approach TV opportunities.
How much do you charge?
We charge a fixed price per group of £796 + VAT for a one day course, plus a one-off fee of £99 + VAT to cover our travel expenses.
The price is the same regardless of how many people are on the course - but we recommend a group of 3 - 5 people.
For a group of four, our price works out as £199 + VAT per delegate (plus our travel costs). We can tweak the course for smaller and larger groups, but we’ve found that 3 - 5 people creates the best learning environment.
Our price is considerably lower than many other broadcast interview training courses – many of whom charge several hundred pounds per person.
To keep our prices affordable we ask you to provide the venue, such as a meeting room - and we don’t provide lunch (although we will bring some snacks and allow time for a lunch break). We provide unedited recordings of the day’s interviews for free.
Where in London is the media training held?
We come to you, wherever you are in London.
The training takes place in your workplace. We just need a meeting room that is large enough for six people. We’ll bring our professional recording equipment, as well as lighting to give you a real-world experience.
Our training course is delivered by Robbie Lane, a former BBC journalist and Public Relations manager.
He worked as a newsreader and producer for BBC radio in the East Midlands before moving to the charity sector, where he was media manager at a national charity.
Hannah Lane is Guru Media Training’s administrator and organiser. She has a background in hotel management and HR and keeps everything running smoothly.
